Hidehiko Ichimura is a Professor of Economics at the Eller College of Management, University of Arizona, a Deputy Director of the Centre for Microdata Methods and Practice, and an International Research Fellow at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. He is an Associate Editor of the Economic Journal and the Review of Economic Studies. He earned his PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1988.

This paper considers data quality issues for the analysis of consumption inequality exploiting two complementary datasets from the Consumer Expenditure Survey for the United States.
Methods of estimation of regression coefficients are proposed when the regression function includes a polynomial in a true regressor which is measured with error.
