Elaine joined the IFS in 2020 and works in the Education and Skills sector. Her research focuses on inequalities in education and labour market outcomes and their relationship with early life conditions. She is also interested in the spatial dimension of inequalities and their local determinants, including access to housing, education and jobs. Ongoing work includes analysing trends in education spending in England, studying the impact of school choice systems on neighbourhood and school segregation and examining the determinants of housing supply elasticities.
