They investigate the relationship between discrimination and social norms. Discrimination is found to be stronger when based on an artificial identity than when based on national identity. Social norms more strongly oppose discrimination on the basis of nationality. Results suggest the social inappropriateness of discrimination moderates discriminatory behaviour.
