Thomas Robert Malthus

Malthus is believed to have worked on his controversial but influential ideas on population and economy while living in London. Among his ideas was that of diminishing returns in production. Malthus' letters around the turn of the century, sent from a correspondence address in Great Russell St, refer to his living in "a garret in Town" while working on the second edition of his Essay on the Principle of Population.
