Gareth is Professor of Economics at the University of Exter and a Research Fellow of the IFS. He is an Academic Adviser to the HM Treasury and HM Revenue and Customs. He is one of the Managing Editors of the IFS, an Associate Editor of the Journal of Public Economic Theory, an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Business and Economics and the director of a Tax research centre based at Exeter University. His main research areas are public economics, labour economics, and microeconomics generally.
