<p><p><p>Poverty amongst pensioners in the UK continues to be a concern both for government and for society in general. With the proportion of the population aged 65 and over projected to increase sharply over the next few decades, this is an issue of increasing importance. </p><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p></p><p>A new IFS report addresses the following issues:<ul><li>What are the prospects for pensioner poverty over the next decade? <li>How much difference will the proposals in the 2006 Pensions White Paper make? <li>Would other policy options reduce pensioner poverty by more, and at what cost to the Exchequer?</ul> </p><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p></p><p></p><p>This report will be launched on Wednesday 18 July at the IFS offices in Ridgmount Street, London.
