Higher Education forms an important part of the economy and Britain boasts some of the world's finest universities. University education is important for improving productivity, and also a potential tool for increasing social mobility. But how we fund the Higher Education sector is a highly controversial topic, and increasing participation rates and international competition means that getting the design of the system right is more important than ever.

In this public talk, Jack Britton (Senior Research Economist at the Institute for Fiscal Studies) will explain how our current tuition fee system works, and will address the key question of whether this system is fair.

Jack will then be joined by Professor Nicholas Barr (LSE) and Dr Gillian Wyness (UCL Insitute of Education) for a panel discussion and Q&A after his talk. Everyone is welcome to attend.

This event is part of the ESRC's Festival of Social Science.
