The IFS Green Budget 2019, in association with Citi and with funding from the Nuffield Foundation, will analyse the issues and challenges facing Chancellor Sajid Javid as he prepares for his first Budget – and which the competing political parties should address in any 2019 general election campaign. The findings from a selection of chapters will be presented at the event, where the full publication will be launched.
The areas covered by IFS researchers will include a discussion of the outlook and risks facing the UK public finances, the implications of the September Spending Round, and current policy options for personal and motoring taxes. Additional analysis will be provided by the Institute for Government on barriers to domestic policy action and by Citi on the outlook for the UK and global economy.
