A new website, the Economics Observatory (ECO), has been launched this week to answer questions from policy-makers and the public about the economics of the Covid-19 crisis and the recovery. The Institute for Fiscal Studies is proud to be a contributing partner to this project.

The initiative, which is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), draws on the expertise of economists from a wide range of universities and research institutions. It will gather and evaluate the best possible data and evidence and use these as the basis for Q&A briefings on the ECO website.

IFS researchers have already contributed pieces to the new website, including "How will lockdown and recession affect the lives of the very young?" and "How will the Covid-19 crisis affect the NHS?", and IFS Research Directors Rachel Griffith and Imran Rasul are on the Lead Editorial board of the project.
