IFS researchers and research fellows, Orazio Attanasio, Sarah Cattan, Emla Fitzsimons, Costas Meghir and Marta Rubio-Codina, have published a paper in The American Economic Review January 2020 edition. The paper, entitled 'Estimating the production function for human capital: results from a randomized controlled trial in Colombia', examines the channels through which a randomized early childhood intervention in Colombia led to significant gains in cognitive and socio-emotional skills among disadvantaged children aged 12 to 24 months at baseline.

The journal, published by the American Economic Association and established in 1911, is one of the oldest economics journals in the US and one of the most respected.
