IFS Research Director Orazio Attanasio gives 2018/19 Ely Lectures

IFS Research Director Orazio Attanasio has given the 2018/19 Richard Ely Distinguished Lecture Series at Johns Hopkins Department of Economics:

Lecture 1: November 12, 2018; 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm; 

The process of human development over the early years: what we know and what we don’t

Lecture 2: November 13, 2018; 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm; 

Modeling parental behavior

Lecture 3: November 15, 2018; 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm;

Human capital policies: what can be done and at what scale 

The department has funded The Richard Ely Distinguished Lecture Series since 1998. For a two-week period once a year, the department invites a highly distinguished scholar to provide a series of lectures on an important development in economics. The series is named in honor of Richard Ely, who was a professor of political economy at Johns Hopkins from 1881 to 1892. Ely was the most widely known economist in the United States around the turn of the 20th century and was instrumental in the early development of the American Economic Association (AEA). He is honored each year with a Distinguished Lecture at the AEA Meetings and at Johns Hopkins University with the Ely Lecture Series.
