It is with great sadness that we record the death on 1 January 2017 of Professor Sir Tony Atkinson, member of the Fiscal Studies Advisory Board and deep influence on the economic analysis of fiscal affairs.
In this article Richard Blundell and Ian Preston provide a brief summary of his work.

Research Fellow University College London
Ian is a Research Fellow of the IFS and a Professor of Economics at UCL. He joined UCL in 1991 and has been attached to the IFS since 1990.
