This report explores evidence on current asset-holding amongst older individuals, how this varies with age and how it has changed over the last decade. This evidence provides a good basis to consider:

• what types of products future retirees are likely to want or need and how this might differ from demand amongst current retirees; and
• whether the types of individuals looking to buy these products in future will be any different from those who currently buy them (in terms of their wealth, their cognitive abilities and their previous experience of financial products).
