Social exclusion and social isolation in old age are two multidimensional and possibly intertwined problems. Exploring them and their consequences is a demanding task that requires access to rich datasets covering social as well as economic and other dimensions of life. ELSA is such a diverse and rich source of information that provides the opportunity to explore in great detail most aspects of social exclusion and social isolation in old age. Thus, this project based on the ELSA data will explore social exclusion and dimensions of social isolation in people 50 years old and over with emphasis on people 80 years old and over.
