Health inequalities among the older population have important implications for a range of policy issues as our population continues to age. This multidisciplinary research will use unique data from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing to examine the inter-relationships between the economic, social, psychosocial, and health circumstances of older people. The aim is to provide a clear understanding of the extent of health inequalities among the older population, the determinants of these, and their implications for social participation and productivity.

IFS researchers are collaborating on this project with James Nazroo, Michael Marmot and Anne McMunn from the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London.
