Robert joined the IFS in 2008 and works in the Direct Tax and Welfare sector. His main research interests relate to income distribution and the design and effects of the tax and benefit system. Recent, current and imminent work includes: various projects combining macroeconomic and demographic forecasts with stated tax and benefit policy in order to simulate the future distribution of income; an evaluation of the impacts of recent reforms to Local Housing Allowance on factors such as rent levels and labour supply; and work on econometric methods for accurately quantifying the uncertainty surrounding estimates of policy impacts.
