Christian Dustmann is Professor at the Department of Economics. He is also Director of the MPhil/PhD Programme in Economics, and Director of CReAM, the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (http://www.econ.ucl.ac.uk/cream/), which is based in the Department of Economics. Previously he was Hochschulassistent (Assistant Professor) at the University of Bielefeld (1992-1993). He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute (1992), and received his ''Habilitation'' from the University of Bielefeld in 1997. He is an editor of the Journal of Population Economics, and research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), London, the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), and a research associate of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), London. His main research interests are in population economics (migration, economics of the family), labour economics (education, wage structures, and earnings mobility), and microeconometrics. He has also directed recent research for the British Home Office on the labour market performance of immigrants and the effect of migration on local labour markets in the UK, and on the effects of EU enlargement on East-West migration.
