Elaine is a Research Economist in the Public Finance and Pensions Sector. She joined IFS as a PhD Scholar in 2009, and started work in 2011. Her research interests are in the Economics of Health, Healthcare and Education. Past work has included the impact of maternal exposure to influenza on subsequent child development, and the responses of older people to the introduction of free bus travel. She currently works on projects relating to patient choice and the use of market mechanisms within the NHS, and on the issues surrounding risky behaviour amongst young people.
