At the IFS, Roger has been working on the offshoring of R&D activities by European multinationals, and its impact on inventors employed at home and abroad. His PhD thesis focused on the relationship between multinational heterogeneity and knowledge diffusion, whereas his postdoctoral research – at the CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis and the University of Groningen – deals with applied topics in international trade, such as firm heterogeneity and multi-product exporters. Other research interests include the measurement of multinational activity, and environmental technologies and technological change.
