Media coverage

Widespread and good quality press coverage is one of the ways in which we ensure that our research has impact - and informs debate.

Our work is frequently covered by national and regional news and researchers regularly speak to journalists in response key policy announcements and to discuss IFS research. Coverage often peaks around Budgets, Autumn Statements and Elections.

“The most important review of all economic policies these days tends to come from the independent watchdog, the IFS.” Tom Bradby, ITV News

In 2015 IFS was mentioned, on average:

  • over 4,500 times by the print press, with around 100 front page mentions by publications including The Guardian, The Times, Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, Scotsman, Daily Mail and Evening Standard.
  • over 28,000 times on internet news sites and blogs, peaking in October with over 5,000 mentions.
  • over 9,000 times by broadcast media, including numerous interviews with Radio 4’s Today Programme, BBC News, SKY News, Channel 4 and ITV News.
