Drawing on our experience of evaluating policies in the UK and abroad, researchers at IFS are studying the best way to foster cognitive development using minimal economic resources. We have been able to use this research to advise the Mexican Ministry of Education on the design and evaluation of new scholarships, and we are carrying out its impact evaluation. Researchers are also are working with the World Bank and the Ministry for Education in Senegal on new incentive schemes for schools and are running a large pilot to foster the cognitive development of young children in Colombia.
