Pensions Bill 2013, which sets out plans for a new single-tier state pension from 2016 onwards, has just received its second reading in the House of Commons.

On 11th July, researchers from the IFS will launch a new report which examines what this reform means for pensioner incomes in the short and long term, which groups will be most affected by the proposed changes, and how far the reforms achieve the government's objectives of reducing complexity, increasing certainty, reducing dependence on means tested benefits, and addressing inequalities in the system.

This work has been funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the launch event will be hosted by the JRF.
